Have you ever had a friend tell you, “Have you seen [name of movie] yet? It was awesome! Ya gotta go see it!”
Of course you have.
How would you like to have customers that talked about YOUR BUSINESS like they talk about an awesome movie they just watched?
Imagine your customers telling their family members and friends stuff like…
“Dude, you have got to go and see [your name]. He’s awesome!”
or…
“Hey [their friend], you really need to make an appointment with [your name], she’s amazing.”
If you had a business like that you would…
1. Never have to advertise ever again
2. Have all the customers you could handle
3. Raise your prices because you CAN!
4. Only work with people you enjoy
The Best Referral System Is…
You guys know that I’m the king of referral systems and I have a referral system for just about every situation, but….
What is the “BEST” referral system?
The best referral system is one that gets your customers and network buzzing about you and your products and services WITHOUT any incentivization.
The best way to do that is to create something so unusual, so remarkable and so buzzworthy that your business becomes the talk of the town.
You’re probably asking yourself right now…
HOW DO I DO THAT?
Here’s Some Buzzworthy Case Studies
Here’s a few companies that have a designed and created a buzzworthy business that have become famous in their local areas.
CASE STUDY #1 – Big Texan Steak Ranch
The Big Texas Steak Ranch is a very famous restaurant in Amarillo, Texas that is the “Home of the Free 72 OZ Steak.”
The buzzworthy “hook” for this restaurant is that if you can eat their 72 OZ steak in under 1 hour, you get it free.
CASE STUDY #2 – CD Scrap Metal
CD Scrap Metal is in my town, Houston, Texas and it’s claim to fame is that the company will pay you for the scrap metal that you bring in, in $2 dollar bills.
So CD Scrap Metal has become known as the “Home of the $2 Bill.”
CASE STUDY #3 – BlendTec
Okay, BlendTec is more known online, but this company has generated millions of dollars in publicy and referrals from it’s crazy “Will It Blend?” YouTube videos.
The owner of BlendTec videotapes himself in his “laboratory” blending up all kinds of stuff like iPods, cell phones, laser pointers, Old Spice bottles and even Justin Bieber memorabelia.
CASE STUDY #4 – Nathans Famous Hot Dogs
Every year Nathan’s hosts and sponsors one of the biggest international hot dog eating contests in the world. These contests generate national media and Nathan’s gets millions in publicity for simply hosting the event.
CASE STUDY #5 – Lulu’s Bakery
This restaurant is one of my favorite. Lulu’s, in San Antonio, Texas serves up HUGE cinnamon rolls.
People come from all around the nation just to see their cinnamon rolls and they almost always walk away buying a few for them and their friends.
I Want to Include One Other…
I have to thrown this company in because they have become famous for their amazing customer service.
I mean, if you want to be known for something, what better to be known for than having world class customer service.
(rather than a gimmick)
The company is Zappos.
You’ve heard of them before, I’m sure. They are probably as famous for their customer service as their shoes. In fact, Tony Hsieh calls his company a customer service company that happens to sell shoes.
That’s pretty powerful!
So the best referral system is simply to have a referral-worthy business – - a business that is worth talking about.
