I’m sitting here at a local Subway Sandwich shop writing this article.
I often come here to write.
There’s just something about getting out of the office that clears my brain and allows me to write.
I digress.
Did you know that YOU can become a mega public speaking hero withoutever having to step onto a plane or even out of your house.
It’s true!
I get at least one to two speaking requests every week.
But they’re not from big companies that want me to fly out to their location to speak.
Most speaking requests I get come from people that are hosting virtual events, much like the Telesummits that I produce. Some of these speaking opportunities allow me to speak to THOUSANDS of people at a time!
For Example…
1. This past month I did a webinar for the “World Massage Conference” that had over 15,000 attendees!!!
2. I did a recorded video training program for 3,000 of Mike Koenig’s Main Street Marketing Machines clients.
3. I did a recorded interview for Amy Palmer’s, “Fearful to Fabulous Spring Sales Summit” that had several thousands of registrants.
4. And I did an interview for my own Video Marketing Masters Telesummit that had over 4,000 registrants.
Add that up.
That’s a HUGE audience.
And to be honest, that was a slow month. I sometimes do twice that amount of speaking.
And Guess What…
I never left my little office here in Friendswood, TX.
That’s right.
Each of these speaking engagements were done using a good ole telephone. Another cool thing is that I did them when I wanted to because they were pre-recorded.
I was able to set my own time and date for the speaking engagement.
AND ONE MORE THING….
People will continue to listen to my speeches for years to come because each of my recordings are being sold as products. So my one speech keeps working for me long after I’ve given it.
How to Become a Virtual Speaker
Becoming a virtual speaker is pretty simple.
Here’s how to do it…
Step 1 – Declare your expertise.
Step 2 – Build a web presence around you and your expertise.
Step 3 – Create a ROCKING 60 minute presentation.
Step 4 – Create an “interview sheet” that tells what your topic is and what they’ll learn from your interview.
Step 5 – Research the web for potential sources of speaking opportunities.
- Online radio shows
- Online podcasts
- Experts who interview
- Virtual events
- Associations
Step 6 – Send a video email introducing yourself. Share your expertise and offer to do an interview for them.
Let them know that they can keep the interview and sell it or give it away.
Step 7 – Send them a pdf copy of your interview sheet.
Step 8 – Follow up with them from time to time.
That’s it.
If you follow this formula you’ll start getting virtual speaking engagements.
Not long ago, I did a one hour audio program about how to quickly and easily become a local celebrity by starting your own home town public speaking business that will magnetically attract highly qualified prospects ready to do business with you and your company. Here is the audio recording and transcript to that interview.
