I have a good friend, Ricky Brandon who was coming to Houston on business. He was coming with a good friend of his named Rick Thomas.
Rick Thomas is a world-class, famous magician. He’s headlined in Las Vegas for many years. He’s an INCREDIBLE magician.

The Funny (Amazing) Part
Well, Ricky Brandon invited myself and my wife to dinner at the famous “Magic Island” restaurant in Houston.
Every magician who’s big today has done a show at one time or another at the Magic Island restaurant in Houston.
(But now, sadly, it’s closed)
As Ricky, Rick Thomas and myself entered into the restaurant, the general manager came right up to us and the first thing he did shocked me.
He said, “Are you David Frey?”
I answered, “Yes, I am!”
I was shocked!
I was standing right next to one of the most famous magicians on the planet, at a place where he should have been immediately recognized and…
…”I” was the one that was recognized.
I was floored. I think Ricky and Rick were kinda surprised too.
The “Rest Of the Story”
It turns out that the general manager was a man named Scott Hollingsworth, who is a well-respected magician and a marketer.
He’s been on my newsletter for many years and he RECOGNIZED me from all the videos and photos that I’ve shared over the years.
But of course, he also knew who Rick Thomas was. Rick performed for Scott at Magic Island when he first started out. Everyone in the magician world knows who Rick is. Rick and Scott were old friends.
I guess that’s why I was so shocked when he came up to me first as we waited at the entrance of the restaurant.
So why do I tell you this story?
Because I wanted to impress upon you…
